|Newest luxury cruise destination: Morehead City, N.C.The Clean County Coalition publicly proposed cruise ships as a better and cleaner revenue and job source for the Morehead City port. CCC is gratified that one of the premier cruise lines has recognized the “treasures” of the Crystal Coast. Read the below USA TODAY article from earlier this week for more information.

Luxury line Silversea has added the little-known North Carolina town of 8,600 people to its schedule for the first time as part of a new itinerary that takes in the Southeastern USA.
Silversea’s scheduled for 2015, unveiled last week, includes a 13-night sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale that stops in Morehead City as well as Savannah, Georgia; Charleston, S.C.; and Norfolk, Va. (the latter another new stop for the line). The trip also includes calls in Hamilton, Bermda and Nassau, The Bahamas.
The sailing will kick off April 3, 2015 on the 386-passenger Silver Shadow.
While the Silversea website has yet to list a single shore excursion for Morehead, the town’s website touts “some of the most beautiful beaches in the world” as a main attraction as well as various museums and historic sites. It bills itself as the “gem of the Crystal Coast.”
Another new port of call in the Americas on the schedule for Silversea in 2015 is Falmouth, Jamaica. New Silversea calls in Europe for 2015 include Alcúdia (Mallorca), Spain and Igoumenitsa, Greece. New calls in Asia include Haikou, China; Hambantota, Sri Lanka; and Bintulu, Malaysia.
